Help. i want to get off ativan. been on 1 mg 3 times a day for 22 years. still have anxiety. makes me so sleepy. now i have copd also. what can i do?

Switch: talk to a psychiatrist or neurologist regarding switching to a different anti-anxiety agent that is not a benzodiazepine (ex: Buspar or Wellbutrin) which takes 4 weeks on average to kick in, once it does very slowly titrate off Ativan to avoid withdrawal side effects (increased anxiety, seizures etc), do not stop Ativan abruptly.
