In less than 24 hour: Ativan (lorazepam) should wear off relatively fast although if the dose if too high or there are other medications being taken with it there may residual somnolence. Most patients will describe the medicine as exerting a discernible effect over the course of about four to 12 hours. It has a half life of about 9 to 20 hours so there may some in your system the next day and readministering may sedate you.
