I take 0.5mg xanax (alprazolam) once or twice per day when in anxious state.dr gave 0.5 mg ativan. it makes me sleepy. can i just use ativan at night and x in day?

Yes, you can: Ativan it is in the benzodiazepine family of drugs, the same family that includes diazepam, xanax (alprazolam) and clonazepam. Ativan is effective for insomnia and panic attacks. Rec.: for more information to check with your prescribing physician. Do not self-medicate.
