Helps us make D if:: Our body can only make 1 vitamin, Vit D (though it can make A from beta carotene). To make D we need exposure to sun at least 50 degrees above the horizon so it is mid-day, not morning sun. We can't make any Vit D in fall and winter as the sun is never that high.
