Viral Pharyngitis: Fall/Winter is when we see an increase in viral illness in the northern hemisphere, and your constellation of symptoms sound consistent with a Viral Pharyngitis, or a viral inflammation of your throat. The fleshy bump is likely mild swelling of your tonsil area, or even could be a fold of tissue you just haven't noticed before. Cancer would be extremely unlikely, but you should visit your doctor.
