Extraction: Probably needs to be extracted. For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.

Treatment Plan: What did your dentist discuss with you regarding the future of that tooth? Antibiotics don't cure dental issues, they just alleviate symptoms. The operculum you mention will once again trap food and bacteria, resulting in another infection. Best bet is to have an oral surgeon evaluate.

Toth Infection: Antibiotics will not cure a tooth infection. Root canal or extraction required for cure. If gums, not tooth, were infected antibiotics will do wonders. If gum anatomy is problematic, additional gum treatment may be indicated. Return to the Dentist that prescribed the antibiotics for reevaluation.

See Dentist/Surgeon: See our Dentist to determine and treat the cause of the infection. See the Oral Surgeon to evaluate and treat the operculum (skin flap) over your wisdom tooth. Good Luck.
