Contact lens & pain: Contact lens associated with pain , redness or discharge from eye , sensitivity to light should never be ignored, one should see doctor for examination and further management. Its important to stop wearing contact lens and revert back to glasses for the time being. Please see your doctor immediately.

Check up: It's always recommended to have eyes checked out by your eye physician if you're having contact lens related eye irritation. You did the correct thing by removing the lens, now Wear your glasses until you have a check up. One of the most common contact lens conditions I see is contact lens overwear problems. Good luck.
