New eye swelling: is a reason for basically IMMEDIATE evaluation. Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, but infection of the eye is an emergency. Furthermore, foreign substances (like artificial lens) can get infected and the infection sticks in it and it can't be gotten back out. Further-furthermore infection in the eye is not far from the brain.
