Allergy /blepharitis: There are multiple causes of red eyes. Itching tends to point to a histamine mediated condition - such as allergy. This could be environmental or contact. Other categories would be eyelid margin inflammation such as blepharitis. You can try an over the counter artificial tear or allergy drop (such as Ketotifen - marketed as Zaditor (ketotifen) or Alaway)
