Over my lifetime i have exercised a few times while sick. could i have done damage to my heart and not known it? i am 18 years old now extremely fit, and exercise almost daily, and have never had any symptoms of heart damage.

No worries: Children all over the world exercise during their illnesses and turn out fine. Kids should avoid exercise if that exercise would harm parts of the body that are already ill or injured. That means don't go running until the sprained ankle is healed and retrained. That means don't exert oneself until the cardiomyopathy has resolved. It all depends on which bodily part is sick or injured.

Not at all likely: Exercising while sick doesn't damage your heart. Exercising in general strengthens your heart. Keep it up!
