No worries: Children all over the world exercise during their illnesses and turn out fine. Kids should avoid exercise if that exercise would harm parts of the body that are already ill or injured. That means don't go running until the sprained ankle is healed and retrained. That means don't exert oneself until the cardiomyopathy has resolved. It all depends on which bodily part is sick or injured.
