Medical assessment: Mild traumatic brain injury is common, and can have some sequelae especially if the initial brain injury resulted in loss of consciousness or had confusion or amnesia or if the injury is recurrent. The sequelae can range from non to significant post-concussion syndrome. Medical assessment is required for assessment and the right treatment. Ritalin is not used in this setting

Off label: In general, psychostimulants including Ritalin, are used that way off-label, meaning without FDA approval. If there is co-occuring depression or anxiety, SSRI's can also be useful. It is important in such cases to determine if the cause of cognitive problems are directly the result of the trauma.
