A member asked:

A doctor just adviced me that i should not blow my runny nose, and better suck the snot in from the nose to throat instead. is it correct thing to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nonsense!: We make about a quart of mucous a day in our sinuses, most of which flows unseen and unfelt down the throat. However, some may flow forwards, and we reach for a tissue to 'blow it out'. This is ok to do, and absolutely normal. I suspect there was a mis-communication with your doctor regarding this!
