The : The short answer is, of course, "yes-you should see a doctor." without insurance, though, it becomes a more difficult answer. There are a few things that make it more important to see a physician. If you are getting dehydrated, you may need IV fluids. If you have a high fever (not with your current temperature) that does not come down with tylenol (acetaminophen) or anti-inflammatories, you could have a more severe infection. If you have trouble breathing, you may have pneumonia. Depending on your age, you could also have mononucleosis, in which case your liver and spleen need to be checked. Assuming you saw your mother recently, you could have what she had. However, there are many different strains of flu and some are more dangerous than others. Depending on your age and family history, the chest tightness you are having could be concerning for a heart attack. You will have to decide the risks of waiting it out to see if you get better vs. The risks of missing something serious that is best treated early. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of resources to provide medical care and it is expensive. But also think about the costs of not seeing a doctor.
