Buddy strapping: Use a tape to strap your affected finger to the adjacent finger for support. If you keep experiencing ongoing pain then an X Ray is a wise idea. Most finger sprains recover within 2-3 weeks provided you keep it well supported and do not hurt it again during sport

6 weeks to 3 months: A bruised and swollen knuckle can be a sprain of the ligaments or a contusion (as long as the xrays show that there is no fracture). If the pain is within 6 weeks of the injury, generally exercise with gripping is not recommended. The pain from sprains get better gradually week by week. It can take 3 months for this to completely go away (for bad sprains). Ice or heat, NSAIDs, and rest are sug
