Straining: You might consider reviewing your medical problems with your PCP because you may have something causing you to have difficult with your BM. If you are on meds, review them as well. Because of your age, doubtful of cancer, but any family history of inflammatory bowel disease? How is your dietary intake? Low on fiber? Some thing for you to check on.

Hemorrhoid: A low fiber diet typically makes stool more difficult to pass, leading to more pushing and potentiating the development of hemorrhoids. So your first step will be plenty of water (so urine looks almost clear) and fiber (35 grams daily).
