Hand swelling: I wonder if your hand swells because it is hanging below the side of the bed or whether there is some constriction of venous flow by some twisting position of your wrist as you sleep. The symptom certainly appears to be positional as I assume your hand doesn't swell at other times when you're up and about. If swelling appears at other times have your MD examine your arm and hand.
