Get a spacer!: Many patients do not use inhalers properly. It is not easy to do, especially for people who have never smoked. Ask the doctor who prescribed it to prescribe a spacer or aerochamber. That makes it a lot easier to use! If you coughed immediately or did not keep it in your lungs for 10 seconds, try again. If you feel jumpy or shaky then you likely did use it correctly, if this is albuterol.
