Ligament tear elbow: Generally speaking depends on the location and severity of the tear and if there is joint instability. Partial tears (most likely as in your case) are generally treated by protection in a brace and muscle strengthening for a period of 3 - 6 weeks followed by graduated return to sport (if it's a sports injury) complete tears with instability are treated surgically

PT vs. Surgery: The best initial management is conservative in nature and involves a good physical therapy regimen. In many cases this will be sufficient to allow full resolution of your pain and symptoms. If after therapy there is little or no improvement or if your range of motion is limited then other injectable and ultimately, surgical options exist. Please consult your orthopedic surgeon to discuss options.

Depends upon: what level of activity you wish to retain. Does your job , or leisure activities require full use /strength of your elbow (eg: Heavy machine operation, driving), tennis, golfing??? Surgical repair may be the treatment of choice! Platelet rich Plasma has been a relatively new non surgical treatment! Speak with your orthopedist! Hope this helps! Dr Z

Well: A lot will depend on the functioning of the elbow. If you injury does not impair the movement and functioning of the elbow then this is less concerning if you cannot have proper functioning. See doctor for you must have exam first and then treatment options depending on the damage
