BE careful regarding: "grow out" and painful conditions/while there are growth issues it is hard to specifically answer this but many things can cause clicking from a normal physiologic click, mild laxity in a joint or a slight alteration in anatomy, or nerve or tendon issues. But if it is long standing. The main issue is if one has pain then: need to get evaluated, likely get some xrays and go from there.
