Cysts are common.: It is normal for ovaries to change in size from month to month and to develop cysts or follicles. The cyst that develops during pregnancy is called a corpus luteum and it shrinks over time. You may see your doctor for another ultrasound if you want to prove to yourself that it has gone away.

Ovarian cysts: are common. They usually arise from an ovarian follicle (the "nest" that an egg develops in). If the egg isn't released, fluid can build up inside the follicle causing an "anechoic cyst". Ovarian cysts can also occur when the follicle fails to shrink after ovulation. They can happen in pregnancy, even after an abortion. Stick to your Gyno's follow up plan. You should be fine! Dr. Anne
