A member asked:

My 18 month old child has hand foot and mouth. the blisters on her feet are really bothering her. is there anything i can use to sooth the pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Oral pain meds such: as acetaminophen or ibuprofen will be most effective for pain control, but some children complain more of an itchy sensation, and cold compresses, topical lotions used for poison ivy such as Ivy Dry or Caladryl may help. If itch is a problem, then oral antihistamines such as Benadryl or Zyrtec can be helpful.
