Anal discomfort: My advice is to consult a proctologist or colorectal surgeon as he/she will be more thorough and cognizant of anorectal disorders which may be overlooked by a gastroenterologist or by colonoscopy. I have encountered similar scenarios in my patients who needed treatment for anal fissures or proctitis. I prefer a skilled proctologist in such cases.
