A member asked:

I was told fluids were extremely low (20 wk) and i had separation of the sacs in one area. does separation occur b/c low fluids or chromosome problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

@ 20 weeks gestation: low volume of amniotic fluid is associated with kidney abnormalities, rupture of the fetal membranes, separation of the maternal side of the placenta from the fetal side and poor fetal growth. Whether low AFV causes these problems or these problems cause low AVF is still uncertain. What is certain is that your pregnancy must be followed closely. I wish you the best. Dr. Anne
