What does it mean when your told you are normal carrier type negative slt3 and they talked about chromosome 16 my daughter passed from leukemia?

Needs clarifications: First, iwhat your doctor meant is that you had a normal karyotype, meaning your chromosomes were normal. I'm guessing you were told you were negative for flt3, a mutation that can be seen in patients with AML and that is associated with a poor prognosis. Your daughter's oncologist is telling you that your daughter did not inherit her leukemia from you and your other children aren't at risk.

AML cytogenetics: These tests refer to the genetics of the leukemia. They can tell about the odds of the leukemia coming back once it has been treated. Flt 3 is bad. Chromosome 16 changes are better. But, it does not tell about how difficult the induction treated (initial chemotherapy and leukopharesis) will be. The genetic abnormalities exist only in the leukemia cells. They are not hereditary.
