Typically 9 joints.: Toe joints include any of the numerous joints that are found in the toes and enable movement of the toes. Typically the great toe has one. The second, third and fourth toes have two in each toe. The fifth or little toe can have either one or two. Some consider the joints that join the toes to the foot (metatarsal phalangeal joints) as toe joints also. Toe pain is when any one of these joints hurt.
