The information : Provided is very limited and the reasons can be plentiful including and not limited to bursitis, gout, arthritis, tendonitits, neuritis, even nerve impingement in the back. It would be helpful if more information is provided like what causes pain to increase or what time of day, what you wear on your feet etc does it happen at rest, while walking etc, the more you provide, the easier to help you.

Nerve irritation: Burning sensations can be caused by nerve irritation. Check for proper shoe fit. Maybe your shoe could be irritating the nerve by your big toe joint causing this burning sensation. If the problem persists, see your podiatrist.
