. Hearing test: From what you say, it seems your child is not hearing. I recommend you take him to your doctor for a proper evaluation. He may have foreign bodies in his ear canals or wax buildup making it difficult for him to hear: or you may have actual hearing loss. He may need a audiology referral for a proper hearing exam. The most accurate: Test of hearing at his age is a brainstem auditory evoked response, even though he will require sedation.Hearing loss delays both comprehension of language & verbal expression of thoughts, so he needs developmental, audiological & ENT specialty evaluations as soon as possible. Sign language helps him communicate & does not delay language. The whole family has to learn it for it to work.
