Doesn't make sense: to use both medications, and there are no studies of both drugs being used together. Generally , buspirone (BuSpar® and generics) is used in order to AVOID using benzodiazepine drugs like diazepam (Valium®). Sometimes a doctor who wants to get a patient off benzodiazepines may prescribe buspirone and then taper the benzo. Usual starting dose is 10-15 mg twice a day, may increase to 45-60 mg/day.
