Testing: Hi Elizabeth, generally speaking, doctors order tests to either screen patients for diseases that can be detected early and treated, or we order tests to provide a diagnosis and guide treatment based on symptoms a patient discusses. Normal test results can certainly help to quell patient concerns, but that's not really the primary reason to recommend testing. Hope that helps!
