No: If rapid strep test positive strep throat you need a 10 day course Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) 875/125 and NSAIDs for symptomatic relief, barring a Penicillin allergy or other factors. If you have severe trouble swallowing steroids may help. See MD ASAP if no therapy was given. Soothing beverages will help. Untreated strep throat can lead to Rheumatic Fever/Scarlet Fever. Vocal chords are in larynx, not pharynx.
