I've had many xrays done because of chest pains but they come back normal. i wanted mri but dr refuses. are mri's not necessary if xray was done?

Chest pain: The type of test depends on what you are looking for. Common causes of chest pain in younger patients include pleurisy, costochondritis, esophagitis, bronchospasm and rib sprain. An MRI won't show evidence of any of these conditions and is not helpful.
