Irritation: This is caused by repetitive irritation of the skin area leading to excessive scarring -thus the bump or nodule. In the early stage, it may go away by itself once the scratching is stopped. At a later stage, injecting a cortisone into the lesion may cause it to resolve. In the chronic stage, it is nearly impossible to get rid of it.
