It depends: This depends on the type of dental infection. Amoxicillin usually would be preferred. Metronidazole usually is not prescribed alone, generally along with another antibiotic. Neither drug usually is given 4 times daily, usually 2-3 doses daily. Check with the doctor or dentist treating you and follow his or her advice.

Neither: Amoxicillin or Metranidazole are prescribed for different type of infection and sometimes together. The dose depends on a lot of factor and varies from patients based on age and weight. Please don’t self medicate, it is causing bacterial resistance, the infection if not eradicated can linger and come back later on, must treat the cause of the infection. Take care and call your dentist.
