Re evaluate totally: First your dr needs to be sure this is an infection by removing a piece of tissue from the wound to culture, look for other signs of infection like an elevated white blood count. If truly infected checking for a deeper abscess, bone infection, retained tooth fragment or suture be sure your nutrition is good with some extra zinc vitamin c.
