Need more info: Pain in top of thigh can be L2, L3, or L4 nerve root. If you had surgery for any of those nerves, continued compression may be the reason for this pain. You need to have your surgeon work you up for this. If your surgery did not involve these nerves, then you may be experiencing lateral femoral cutaneous nerve injury that can occur from laying on your belly for long periods of time.

Varies: More info would be helpful. If it was there before surgery, then it suggests that the cause of that pain was not addressed with the surgery or that you are still in recovery. If it is new since surgery, it suggests some event that occurred during or after surgery. I would discuss with your surgeon and some postoperative imaging studies to help determine the cause may be indicated.
