I have 3 weeks to prepare for a 500 step climb and 4 hour walk in the heat, i'm still unfit but i really don't want to miss out! any advice?

Exercise regimen: You could double up daily on your workouts (morning and evening) in anticipation of the event. The only way to get in shape is to be dedicated to the exercise regimen, stick with it, and just "do it".
