About

Bio

When I reflect on the last ~34years of medical practice, it becomes clearly evident that my medical practice has been one dedicated to service of my patients. My family has a tradition of medical service to the community dating back to the 1890's. My Grandfather and Great-Grandfather's great example and legacies as physicians & surgeons, set the high standard for myself and my siblings (sister and first cousins) to pursue individual careers in medicine (Cardiac Ultrasonography, Nursing, and Speech Pathology) Each of us are proud to carry on this tradition, and are the example of "good seeds" sown by our family members. I am a graduate of Creighton University Medical School. My post-graduate training was in General Surgery and E.N.T. Surgery. I have achieved board certification from the Am. Bd. of Emergency Medicine; the Am. College of Forensic Examiners; & the Am. Board of Forensic Medicine. I am a Life-Fellow of the Am. College of Emergency Medicine & the Am. College of Forensic Examiners. I have served our nation on active duty as an officer within U.S. Army Medical Department, after post-graduate medical training. While on active duty, my Trauma Medicine & Emergency Medicine career was spawned, when assigned to a major Army Level I Trauma Center. It was this extensive clinical experience that afforded me the opportunity to continue practicing Trauma & Emergency Medicine post-active duty. My civilian Emergency Medicine Career spanned 14 very active years; spread across four states; and provided me a much broader understanding of how Emergency Care works in different areas of Texas & the Southwestern U.S. I retired from Trauma & Emergency Medicine after 14 years of continual service, in order to pursue a second career in General Family and Internal Medicine. In 2009, a national TeleHealth organization recruited me to enter into this new clinical tract, & it is this Clinical & Admin experience that has led me to affiliate with HealthTap.

Specialties
Doctors may have more than one area of specialty interest. Board certification in a specialty area means the doctor has completed formal training and has practice experience in that specialty, and has passed the certification examination from the corresponding accredited medical specialty board.
