A member asked:

Can magnesium oxide supplements (400mg/daily) cause darkening of the urine? occurred first morning after taking supplement previous pm w/food.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dark urine: Dark urine can be caused by liver problems where bilirubin levels in the blood are elevated. A blood test for both total and direct bilirubin should be done as well as standard LFT's (liver function tests). Also, get a urinalysis and culture.
