A member asked:

Psa tested 2 years ago and was 0.6. new test result is 7.4. is it common for the value to jump this fast in such a time period ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Velocity" of change: A rapid change in a value can be due to a few other things (such as change in method or reference range) but generally is indication of a need to find an explanation. Benign hyperplasia doesn't usually have this kind of rate of change, nor is it common with indolent low grade tumors, so best to get a tissue sample to explain this.
