Possibly: Many children get high fevers with both viral and bacterial infections, but with chronic benign neutropenia, especially if the count is very low, the body may not be able to adequately fight a bacterial infection, so urgent evaluation to identify the cause of the fever and initiate treatment is important. Frquently CBN is identified as part of the work up of recurrent high fevers.
