It is what it is: The effect is immediate...from a distance of 50 ? feet, a shot to the back of the thigh might cause some sharp pain (depending on what type of clothing you were wearing), maybe a bruise. You already know if the skin was broken. Depending on the power of the gun, you may need to consider having the pellet removed. If there is any evidence a foreign body remains in the leg, go in for eval/removal.

Injury: although I am sure this hurts, I would anticipate the injury to improve in a week or so.. One concern though would be blood clot. If the calf swells worse and gets tight get checked.
