Too many sedatives: Without knowing the exact regimen my best comment is to note that care must be taken when using multiple medications with sedative effects. I assume the Ambien is for sleep and the Xanax (alprazolam) is for anxiety. I would argue both are short-term interventions and she will be best served if alternative approaches are explored. The only thing I can say with certainty is that she should NOT drink alcohol!
