A member asked:

Every month or so i get random shockwaves of pain up the left side of my back. it lasts for about 5 seconds and hurts more when i turn my back.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Back pains: Such fleeting sharp pains, affected by twisting motions, often are caused by pinching of nerves. The impingement may occur at the spinal area or, if it's higher in the back and affected by a deep breath, in the rib cage. See your physician if symptoms persist.
