Every one in a while i get a stitch pain that last about a second in my left side. it may happen for a few days then go away for months. why is this?

Intestinal gas : Mid-thirties female with left sided transient occasional "stitch" describes discomfort aroused by intestinal gas caught up at the flexion of the transverse to the descending colon on the left. This is a functional problem related to the way things work, and unlikely to be a manifestation of an underlying tissue abnormality or structural deformity.
