It's : It's possible some food or bacteria is caught under the bridge, which will inflame the gum tissue. Inflammed tissue will swell a bit, hence the pressure. Try to use some floss for bridges (superfloss, etc) to get underneath the bridge to clean it out. A water pic may also be useful. If you can't seem to dislodge anything, then a trip to your dentist would be a good idea.

First : First things first. If your bridge was comfortable when it was delivered to you, and now it feels different, i recommend going straight back to the doctor and asking him to have a good look to make sure that nothing has changed, and that you are maintaining the ares properly. My question to you is are you flossing under your bridge? And are you using a nice thick piece of floss like the waxed tape or the lambs' tail of the superfloss. It can get pretty nasty under a bridge if you don't keep it clean. While i respect dr theodore davantzis' opinion and advice, i would like to express caution about the waterpic. It is not an instrument i recommend, and if you have not already rushed out and got one, hold on for just a moment and hear me out. The waterpic provides a pulsatile jet of water that picks up particles of bacteria and inoculates them under pressure into inflamed and fragile gum tissue producing microscopic abscesses. You have to be extremely careful how you angle the jet, and i question the clinical value of this tool. If you feel a change under your bridge there is something going on. Good luck getting sorted out. Dr. Neil mcleod dds dentistry that lasts - quality that counts.

Since : Since the fixed partial denture (bridge) was placed about five oaths ago, you you be due pretty soon for your recall appointment. This is certainly something that your dentist should have a look at. Why not move your recara appointment a little earlier and get things checked out?
