Costochondritis...: Costochondritis is due to inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs. It results in chest pain that can be quite severe. The inflammation needs to be relieved so anti-inflammatory meds (ex. NSAIDS like ibuprofen) will usually control the pain. The inflammation usually goes away on its own in days to week or 2. Heat or cold, whatever feels better, cam also be helpful.
