Orthopaedic surgeon: Orthopaedic surgeons, usually those trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy, care for osteochondritis. When it occurs in the foot and ankle, some foot and ankle surgeons (orthopaedists, podiatrists) care for it too. Costochondritis sounds similar but is inflammation of the rib cartilage. It does not need a specialist, usually treated with Ibuprofen or similar medications.
