Elevated d dimer: D dimer is not a marker for cancer. it means there is a risk of clotting , iIt is high in DVT, embolus, dissection, stroke, and after surgery, trauma, in gastritis, and pneumonia. Sometimes in the pre-period before cancer people may clot ( paraneoplastic syndrome ) if high it warrants work up by a hematologist as clotting can be dangerous especially, in the lung
