Had urine tests in past that showed little bit of bacteria, but told i did not have uti. how do you determine harmless bacteria versus uti bacteria?

Symptoms: We have terminology for what you describe - asymptomatic bacteriuria vs. a UTI - urinary tract infection. You should definitely notice something is wrong with the urine if indeed you have an infection... that could be pain with urination, increased frequency, bad smell, or SOMETHING to go on... A urinalysis and urine culture serve to back up the clinical symptoms with something substantiative.
