Probable infection: Asymmetric tonsillar hypertrophy should be evaluated. The most likely etiologies include infection, early abscess or cryptic debris (tonsil stones) however tumors can also form in the tonsils. The pain is referred to your ear. Saline gargles to start and increase water intake. Antibiotics may be necessary. An experienced PCP or otolaryngology should take a look with any persistent enlargement.
